When it comes to on-farm conservation, the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) has a variety of options for producers. No matter the type of land, crop grown or level of technology, NRCS has competitive funds available for items such as laying pipeline, leveling land, installing soil moisture sensors, and providing waterfowl habitat. In addition to the state-allocated NRCS funds, there are also additional funds available to producers through Regional Conservation Partnership Program (RCPP) projects. These projects are targeted to specific area needs and are the result of collaboration between organizations such as NRCS, USA Rice, Ducks Unlimited and others. These partnerships also create the opportunity for matching partner funds which magnify the impact of NRCS’ funds alone. To find out more information about conservation programs in your state, USA Rice has developed a website search on their website for rice producers. This search provides information on federal, state and local programs which focus on anything from tax exemptions to soil health and water management to fuel and renewable energy.
