Reception is Highlight of 11th Annual National
Conservation Systems Cotton & Rice Conference
Meet peers who have excelled in stretching input dollars into whopping profits at this conference.
TUNICA, Mississippi- An evening reception on Jan. 21, will be one of the highlights of the 11th Annual National Conservation Systems Cotton & Rice Conference set for Jan. 21-22, 2008, at the Grand Casino Resort Tunica Convention Center in Tunica, Mississippi. The conference is sponsored by Cotton Incorporated and the US Rice Producers Association, and is a production of MidAmerica Farm Publications.
As in the past, the US Rice Producers Association will sponsor the evening reception. Just like receptions in preceeding years, John LaRose, Chairman of the Conference Steering Committee, anticipates this reception will be a grand event.
"There will be hors d'oeuvres and refreshments available as well as entertainment by "Grassfire", he said. Attendance prizes will be awarded at this event. "This also will be a good chance for attendees to interact, socialize, visit and relax while meeting new people."
Last year's conference in Houston, Texas drew an attendance of 600 people. As in all past conferences, the comments from those attending was overwhelmingly positive:
"This is a special conference. I believe the presentations made by farmers during the Breakout Sessions gives this conference the special touch that makes it the best conference in the south."
"I found valuable information in every session I attended and thatŐs rare in many meetings."
"Their programs were detailed, well organized."
"Learning how actual farmers implemented the concepts really brought the message home."
Some also liked "one on one discussions with farmers who have conservation system
experience," and found "the interaction between the audience and speakers made the
conference unique."
New this year is the addition of the Mid-South Corn Conference and the Mid-South Precision Ag Conference to be held in conjunction with the Cotton & Rice Conference. The Mid-South Corn Conference will feature 16 corn researchers and farmers. The Mid-South Precision Ag Conference will feature nine precision agriculture technology and systems breakout sessions by nine of precision agriculture researchers and farmers.
A record crowd is expected at the conference in Tunica in January. This conference will
feature approximately 91 farmers and researchers who will be making presentations during the breakout sessions of the two-day event.
"You don't want to miss this opportunity to get some of your questions answered or to search for new ideas that could improve your farming operation and your bottom line," said LaRose. "If you have never attended one of these conferences before, this is the year to be there."
